The release of iPhone 17 would be scheduled for september 9

Like clockwork every year, Apple sticks to its September routine for unveiling new smartphones, getting ready for the holiday shopping season (yeah, we’re already thinking about Christmas!). We’re starting to get a clearer picture of what to expect from the iPhone 17 lineup, but the exact presentation date has been pretty hazy… that is, until a little rumor popped up from a telecom carrier.

Word is that Apple might unveil the new iPhone 17 on September 9th. Sure, the Cupertino company hasn’t made anything official yet, but according to the German site iPhone-Ticker, this info supposedly comes from internal communications at a German carrier. September 9th falls on a Tuesday – which fits perfectly with Apple’s usual keynote schedule. Honestly, it sounds pretty believable.

Apple’s got a busy end of year ahead
Looking at previous launches: the iPhone 16 was presented on Monday, September 9, 2024, the iPhone 15 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, the iPhone 14 on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, and the iPhone 13 on Tuesday, September 14. You know what they say about old habits! If Apple does go with September 9th for the iPhone 17, we can expect pre-orders to kick off on Friday, September 12th, with the first deliveries happening on Friday, September 19th.

Let’s be real with Apple, we know the drill by now! Their schedule has been like clockwork for years. So this September 9th date doesn’t really shock anyone at this point.
As for the iPhone 17 lineup, we should logically see 4 different models, but there might be some shake-ups happening. Apple’s apparently ditching the Plus version to roll out an iPhone 17 Air instead – way thinner than what we’re used to. Design-wise, things could change quite a bit too, especially on the back with that pill-shaped camera module stretching across the full width. That’d be a real departure from what we know!
